Question 1

Who is Alison?

Accepted Answer

I'm Alison Warne. I own TMO with my family and I fit every customer myself. I'm a certified sleep science coach.

Question 2

Is TMO the same business as The Mattress Outlet Townsville?

Accepted Answer

Yes. TMO is our new name. Same shop, same people, same address on Woolcock Street.

Question 3

Is TMO a chain or a franchise?

Accepted Answer

No. We're one local, family-run shop in Currajong. No head office and no franchise fees.

Question 4

Will you try to sell me something I don't need?

Accepted Answer

No. If your bed is fine, I'll tell you. I'd rather you come back when you really need one.

Question 5

Do you work on commission?

Accepted Answer

No. Nobody here is paid to push you into a more expensive bed.

Question 6

What do customers say?

Accepted Answer

We have 5.0 stars from 25 Google reviews. The thing people mention most is that there was no pressure. You can read them all on our Reviews page.

Question 7

Can I bring my partner?

Accepted Answer

Please do. Most couples decide together, so a Sleep Fit for two saves you a second trip.

Question 8

Can I bring an older parent?

Accepted Answer

Of course. Take as long as you need. There's somewhere to sit, and we can try getting in and out of bed on an adjustable base.

Question 9

I'm shopping on my own. Is that OK?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. You're just as welcome.

Question 10

What is a Sleep Fit?

Accepted Answer

A free, private appointment with me. We work out what suits your body and the way you sleep, then you lie on the right beds properly.

Question 11

What happens at a Sleep Fit?

Accepted Answer

I ask a few questions about how you sleep, what's sore, what's failed before and how your mornings feel. Then you lie on a shortlist of mattresses, flat and raised on an adjustable base, until one feels right.

Question 12

How long does it take?

Accepted Answer

About 30 minutes. If you need longer, take longer.

Question 13

Does it cost anything?

Accepted Answer

No. It's free and there's no obligation.

Question 14

Do I have to buy something?

Accepted Answer

No. Plenty of people go home to think about it, and some find out their current bed is fine.

Question 15

Why do you lock the doors?

Accepted Answer

So it's private and unhurried. You get my full attention and nobody is hovering.

Question 16

When are Sleep Fits?

Accepted Answer

Weekdays 3pm to 6pm and Saturday 12pm to 3pm. After hours or Sunday by arrangement.

Question 17

Can I come after hours?

Accepted Answer

Yes, by arrangement. Text me and we'll find a time.

Question 18

How do I book?

Accepted Answer

Text me on 0468 202 707 or book online.

Question 19

Can I just walk in?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Walk-ins are welcome weekdays 10am to 3pm and Saturday 9am to 12pm. For a full fitting, book a Sleep Fit.

Question 20

Do I need to know what I want before I come in?

Accepted Answer

No. That's my job.

Question 21

What should I bring?

Accepted Answer

Comfortable clothes, your partner if you share a bed, and your own pillow if you like.

Question 22

What if my partner and I like different feels?

Accepted Answer

Common, and fixable. We find what suits you both, and on a Split King each side moves on its own.

Question 23

Are the drinks really on you?

Accepted Answer

Yes. A cold beer or a glass of wine for over-18s, or something soft. It's a welcome, not a requirement.

Question 24

Do you ever have sales?

Accepted Answer

No. The price on the tag is our price every day.

Question 25

Why don't you have sales?

Accepted Answer

Because a price that's 50% off every week was never the real price. We'd rather show you one honest price.

Question 26

Will your price drop after I buy?

Accepted Answer

If we lower our own price on the same product within 90 days of your purchase, we refund the difference. That's our 90-Day Price Protection. Terms apply.

Question 27

What is Beat It By $50?

Accepted Answer

Find the same size mattress, of comparable construction and quality, Australian-made with a 10-year warranty, advertised for less by another Australian retailer and in stock in Townsville, and we'll beat that price by $50. Terms apply.

Question 28

What's the difference between Factory Direct and The Works?

Accepted Answer

Same bed, two ways to buy it. Factory Direct is our lowest price for the product. The Works adds delivery and set-up, old mattress and base removal, a premium waterproof protector, and the 7-Night Sleep Promise.

Question 29

Can you give me an example price?

Accepted Answer

A Queen Immersion pillow-top on a Dreamflex 100 adjustable base is $3,079 Factory Direct or $3,529 with The Works.

Question 30

What does MRP mean on your tags?

Accepted Answer

The manufacturer's recommended price. Because we buy factory direct, our everyday price is below it. It's not a sale price; it's our price every day.

Question 31

Can I pay weekly?

Accepted Answer

Yes, with humm, subject to approval. For example, the Queen Immersion + Dreamflex 100 with The Works is from $15.88 a week.

Question 32

Why are your prices lower than the big stores?

Accepted Answer

No franchise fees, no commissioned sales team and no expensive showroom fit-out. That money goes into your bed instead.

Question 33

Does a lower price mean lower quality?

Accepted Answer

No. Every mattress we sell is Australian-made and comes with the manufacturer's 10-year warranty.

Question 34

Should I wait for a sale somewhere else?

Accepted Answer

That's up to you. Our price won't change for a sale, and Beat It By $50 is there if you find a comparable mattress advertised for less.

Question 35

What is the 7-Night Sleep Promise?

Accepted Answer

Sleep on the mattress we fitted you for, at home, for 7 nights. If it isn't right, tell me in writing by 10am on day 8, we collect it, and you pay nothing. Conditions apply.

Question 36

Which beds does it cover?

Accepted Answer

Our pocket spring mattresses (Peace, Opal, Immersion and Active) in Queen, King or Split King, on their own or with a Dreamflex adjustable base, bought with The Works.

Question 37

Do I pay anything during the 7 nights?

Accepted Answer

No. Before delivery we hold a card pre-authorisation (Mastercard credit, Mastercard debit or Visa debit) or confirm your humm finance. If you keep it, we charge on day 9.

Question 38

When does it start?

Accepted Answer

Delivery day is night 1.

Question 39

How do I return it?

Accepted Answer

Text or email me by 10am on day 8. We collect within 2 business days, with no collection or restocking fee inside 25 km, as long as everything is clean, undamaged and complete.

Question 40

Can I swap it for a different mattress?

Accepted Answer

No. It's a return, not a swap. Choosing a different mattress afterwards is a new purchase.

Question 41

What conditions apply?

Accepted Answer

The waterproof protector stays on at all times, the mattress must be clean and undamaged, it must be your main bed at home, you'll need photo ID, you must be 18 or over, and it's one per household. Full terms in store.

Question 42

Is it available in Single, King Single, Double or Long Single?

Accepted Answer

No. Those sizes are Factory Direct only.

Question 43

Why 7 nights and not 100?

Accepted Answer

Because you've already tried it properly in person with me first. The 7 nights are there to be sure in your own bedroom.

Question 44

Which mattresses do you sell?

Accepted Answer

Pocket spring: Peace, Opal, Immersion and Active. Value range: Alfa Medium, Alfa Plush, Bliss and Classic. We also make custom sizes and caravan mattresses.

Question 45

Are your mattresses Australian-made?

Accepted Answer

Yes, every mattress we sell.

Question 46

What warranty do mattresses have?

Accepted Answer

The manufacturer's 10-year warranty, plus our TMO 10-Year Local Backup.

Question 47

Which mattress is best for me?

Accepted Answer

That's exactly what the Sleep Fit is for. It depends on your body, how you sleep and what feels right to you.

Question 48

Is a firmer mattress always better for your back?

Accepted Answer

No. The right support depends on your body and how you sleep. Too firm can be as uncomfortable as too soft.

Question 49

Do you sell King, Super King and Split King?

Accepted Answer

Yes.

Question 50

Can I take a mattress home today?

Accepted Answer

Sometimes. Ask me what's in stock; some mattresses are made to order.

Question 51

Do you make custom sizes?

Accepted Answer

Yes, custom-made mattresses are available at our Factory Direct price.

Question 52

Do you make caravan mattresses?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We measure up and make custom caravan mattresses. See our Caravan page.

Question 53

Why consider an adjustable base?

Accepted Answer

A flat bed gives you one position. An adjustable base lets you raise your head, lift your knees or put your feet up until you're comfortable.

Question 54

Which adjustable bases do you sell?

Accepted Answer

Dreamflex 100, 200, 300 and 400.

Question 55

Can each side move on its own?

Accepted Answer

Yes, on a Split King. One of you can sit up while the other lies flat.

Question 56

Can raising the head help with snoring?

Accepted Answer

Raising the head of the bed can help reduce snoring for some people. If snoring is heavy, or you gasp or feel sleepy during the day, please talk to your GP.

Question 57

Are adjustable beds only for older people?

Accepted Answer

No. Lots of couples choose them for reading, watching TV, putting their feet up after a long shift, or simply finding their comfortable position.

Question 58

Will your mattresses work on an adjustable base?

Accepted Answer

Yes, our pocket spring mattresses suit Dreamflex bases. I'll check your choice at the Sleep Fit.

Question 59

What warranty do the bases have?

Accepted Answer

A 10-year adjustable base warranty, plus our TMO 10-Year Local Backup.

Question 60

Do you assemble the base?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Assembly is included with The Works, and available as an extra with Factory Direct.

Question 61

Do you deliver?

Accepted Answer

Yes. With The Works, delivery and set-up are included within 25 km, stairs included.

Question 62

What does delivery cost with Factory Direct?

Accepted Answer

Doorstep drop-off $50; one-person delivery into the bedroom $100; two-person delivery $150 mattress only or $200 mattress and base; add $45 for two or more flights of stairs. Base assembly is extra.

Question 63

Who delivers?

Accepted Answer

Our own local family team.

Question 64

Do you take my old mattress away?

Accepted Answer

Yes. It's included with The Works, or $60 with Factory Direct. We recycle it through the Endeavour Foundation.
